Folk Dance

We have a new Folk Dance Teacher, Panna Herman, who comes with 20 years of experience as a Transylvanian professional dancer and dance teacher.

IT Course

Tamás Tűzkő IT teacher will run an IT Office course for ADULTS in Islington - press the "Continue" button for the dates.

New Class

From September we started a new class for children aged 9 or more called "Világjárók" (Globetrotters) in Morden. We now have 3 school classes for children in Morden!

Several of our classes in Morden is full! Please always enquire, eg by sending a Message, before visiting this Group, to avoid disappointment. If you can access our Islington venue reasonably easily, try to come there as, due to our relocation, we can still offer places for all age groups at that venue. If Islington is not an option for you, we can put you on our Morden waiting list.

IT course

Tamás Tűzkő IT teacher ran a 5-session IT Office course for ADULTS in Morden between 30 April and 25 June.

Folk Dance

On the 11th of June 1pm, the H-unique folk dance group was our guests.

Our Teachers' Training on 5 February at the Hungarian Cultural Centre proved to be a pleasant event again.

After watching the documentary "Incubator", Viktória Szabó psychologist tried to help us understand the process our bi(multi)lingual-multi cultural students develop their identities, also the problems our teachers may face in their daily work.

- You may enter our Beigli-, Poetry- and Drawing competition - all masterpieces will be exhibited and the best ones will be awarded (only one piece per category, please)*

- At our Christmas Market you may buy festive treats and presents, including “kürtös kalács”prepared in front of your eyes.

Our Drama Group was invited to perform a short program at this year's reception at the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary, in memory of the 1848-1849 Revolution and War of Independence.

On this picture they perform a choreography to the musical version of "Nemzeti dal", a popular poem of our revolutionary poet Sándor Petőfi.

We had our AGM on the 21st of November 2009.

We had our traditional teachers' training day on the 7th of February in the Hungarian Cultural Centre in London.

...on the 25th of September, 12-4pm, in the White Swan Restaurant in Golders Green...while our Morden families held their first Film Club in Morden.

We invited you to an unusual Hungarian lesson in the Geffrye Museum and its wonderful botanic gardens on the 26th of September.

Our Morden Branch started on September the 11th, while in Islington we are hoping to launch the new year on the 18th of September.

Our Morden families said good-bye to each other for the summer holidays on their last teaching day on the 10th of July.

Our Islington families gathered at Szent István Ház for their end-of-year celebrations on the 11th of July, followed by a picnic, sports day and committee meeting.

Our 2010-2011 academic year will offer a record number of programs!

Join us for our next historical summer camp for families between 16-20 August in Szentgyörgyvölgy (now this is a mouthful for you!) in the Őrség region, where we time travel to the era of Rakoczi in the 18th century.

The Hungarian Children and Parents Group (LMI+) would like to invite you to its annual traditional Hungarian Winter Carnival. Bring your family and friends - the more the merrier!

Program: Fancy dress procession for children and adults, doughnut eating competition, face painting, Carnival mask making, raffle, market and disco. Kalocsa embroidered tablecloths and yummy homemade cakes will also be on sale!

On the 7th of May, a great honour befell our Group; our chair Edit Zolnai received the Cross of Merit (Gold Grade) of the Republic of Hungary, for her outstanding work for promoting Hungarian language in the UK and organising our Group. Good job, Edit!

2nd FRIENDSHIP WORKSHOP

The Hungarian Reformed Church in the UK will revealed their new Sekler Gate during a celebratory worship on Sunday, the 13th of March, 5pm.

We managed to shake the walls with our performances on the "Sinkovits Imre" Literary Festival, organised by the Federation of Hungarians in the UK on Sunday, the 8th of May 2011, 11 am.

Petra Lávay and Szabina Lávay from our Morden Branch, and Regő Kakas from our Islington Branch performed poems without making any mistakes and with buckets of charm.

Our Islington Drama Class performed a 25 minute play, written and played (including live renditions of well-known Hungarian pop music) by themselves, titled Time Travel in History.

Many families joined Marianna Kiss, founder of the Children's Club in London - and a member of our Group - on a Hungarian Friendship Party, 12 February 2-6 pm.

Mónika Henter and Éva Thompson (pictured) will perform as well as the Szorakatema mini drama group of the Hungarian Children and Parents Group in Islington.

We supported the British-Hungarian Fellowship, the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary in London and the Hungarian Cultural Centre advertising their CONCERT FOR HOPE in aid of those affected by the toxic sludge disaster in Hungary.
